Unhappy shadow damage

So as far as I know shadow damage is supposed to be armor ignoring, but if thats the case why is it when i have tried to farm vaeetirs with dark aura on my necro dark aura would only trigger doing 21 damage instead of 47?

Are you using shadow form in your build? At 12 shadow arts it caps damage at 21.

Do you use 'Shadow Form' while farming vaettirs?
You should notice the damage cap from Shadow Form.

Not sure what the hells going on with shadow damage, last week I died and the monster I cast spiteful spirit on pre-death was doing 60-ish damage to adjacent foes. It was Fenrir this happened with, double damage to doggies when the caster dies?

As far as I know, no damage type automatically ignores armor - it's the skills that make the damage armor ignoring.

Shadow is explicitly armor ignoring

Although it should be noted that there are no weapons that deal shadow damage unless I'm thinking wrong on that.

We don't know that; there's no way to determine if it is inherently armour ignoring, it just so happens that all sources of shadow damage ignore armour.. The presence of anomalies may suggest otherwise.
